Ningbo Development Zone Centre Hospital
Ningbo Development Zone Central Hospital (commonly referred to as NETD Hospital) [ 宁波开发区中心医院 Ningbo Kaifaqu Zhongxin YiYuan.] first opened in 1999 and was initially a public hospital operated by the Beilun Municipal Government under the Ningbo City Government. In 2005 the hospital was purchased privately and changed status to a 'not-for-profit' private hospital. The hospital is authorised to supply services to holders of the social medical insurance scheme offered by the Chinese government, and additionally is authorised to provide medical services to foreign passport holders, including Taiwan and Hong Kong compatriots.
The hospital has an occupancy of around 600+ beds having undergone a building expansion which opened in May 2009. The Hospital has a state of the art operating theatre suite, ICU, an upgraded & modern outpatient/inpatient areas and emergency department while providing a range of comprehensive health services.
Ningbo Foreigners Medical Clinic (FMC)
Known in Chinese as Ningbo Beilun Shewai Texu Menzhen [北仑涉外特需门诊] was created in April 2006, due to a need for more appropriate foreign orientated health & medical care. NETD Central Hospital (with the support of both the Zhejiang provinicial, Ningbo city & Beilun municipal governments and related Health Bureaus), agreed to the development Foreigners Medical Clinic (FMC) & the project was initiated. The FMC is the creation of Dr. Middleton (NZ), who was employed to review, recommend and oversee improvement to health & medical care, including clinical standards facility wide and to further facilitate changes consistent with JCI accreditation standards. Dr. Middleton was involved with the architectural design of the hospital expansion and assisted with the setting up of the ICU. The FMC creation is a result of Dr Middleton's vision for more appropriate healthcare that is based around evidence based practice methodologies consistent with foreigner's/expat medical & healthcare expectations. FMC was designed, fitted out and had various aesthetic elements (e.g. painted murals and floor area) completed by Dr Middleton. Additional items have been kindly donated by several foreigners and foreign companies based in Ningbo & Beilun areas.
